Monologue Madness DC announces its Top 32 actors to compete for $1000 prize

Monologue Madness DC held it's first in-person open call audition this past weekend in preparation for its return to stage on Monday, September 27 at Woolly Mammoth Theatre.

DC's only tournament of acting celebrates it's ninth year in a few weeks and announces this year's Top 32 actors who will be battling through five rounds, before a live audience and panel of judges, to capture a $1000 prize.

"It was so awesome to see talent walking into the audition room again and the casting process back in action. The actors felt the same!" says Producer Edward Daniels.

This year's top-scoring actor from the open call is Walter Riddle, which many audiences will remember from the 2019 live event, the 2020 Quarantine Challenge, and winner of the Two Minute Monologue Competition produced by Transformation Theatre, Inc, in 2020.

"I can't wait to see what this group brings to the stage and just can't wait to share in their experience of being back in front of a live audience after over a year away!"

This year's competition judges include Studio Theatre's Reginald Douglas, Ally Theatre's new Artistic Director Lori Pitts, Anne Chapman of Anne Chapman Casting, Kimberly Skyrme of Kimberly Skyrme Casting, former Monologue Madness Champion Karina Hilleard, and Helen Hayes Award Winner Rick Hammerly.

Monologue Madness DC takes place on Monday, September 27 at 7pm at Woolly Mammoth Theatre in Penn Quarter. Audience tickets are now on sale and expected to sell out, due to limited capacity. Proof of vaccination and indoor masking required.
