Monologue Madness Announces DC & Atlanta Judges

Monologue Madness, DC’s annual tournament of acting, has announced its 2021 line-up of judges for this year’s event at the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts in Washington, DC, as well as the first wave of judges for its Atlanta stop of the newly announced national tour.

Celebrating its ninth anniversary, Monologue Madness casts 32 actors chosen from an open call audition and places them into a single-bracket tournament where actors compete with their best one-minute monologue through five rounds before a live audience and panel of industry professionals. Last actor standing takes home $1000.

This year’s DC judge’s panel includes Reginald Douglas (Associate Artistic Director of Studio Theatre), Rick Hammerly (two-time Helen Hayes Award winning actor and Producing Artistic Director of Factory 449), Lori Pitts (actor, director, and newly-named Artistic Director of Ally Theatre Company), Kimberly Skyrme (Kimberly Skyrme Casting, House of Cards, Deep Impact, Beloved, The Pelican Brief), Carl Randolph (Founding Producing Artistic Director of Transformation Theatre, Inc), Anne Chapman (Anne Chapman Casting, Harriet, Lincoln, When Harry Met Sally), and Adrienne Nelson (actor and dialect/acting coach, House of Cards, Billions).

For the first time in the history of the event, Monologue Madness DC welcomes multiple-Helen Hayes nominee and 2013 Champion, Karina Hilleard (Synetic Theater, Theatre Alliance, Keegan Theatre) to the live event judge’s panel.

Monologue Madness Atlanta has announced Jamil Jude (Artistic Director at Kenny Leon’s True Colors Theatre Company and Co-Founder of The New Griots Festival, dedicated to celebrating, advocating, and advancing the careers of emerging Black artists in Minneapolis-St. Paul, MN) and Kris Redding (Kris Redding Casting, Borat, Thunder Force, Pitch Perfect 3) to the initial line-up of judges with more additions to come.

Monologue Madness DC is set to take stage at The Kennedy Center in September and Monologue Madness Atlanta follows in November at Synchronicity Theatre.
